Description
The Sleat peninsula is unique, even on an Island where every area has a distinctive character. Unlike the rest of the region, there are no mountains here, the central parts being lush moorland, dotted with forestry plantations.
Sleat is a traditional parish that has several communities and two major landowners (the Clan Donald Lands Trust and Eilean Iarmain Estate.
The Sleat peninsula is sometimes described as the garden of Skye, with its woodland and pasture adding a softer aspect to the island.
